RSVPs are pouring in!

We have received 8 RSVPs back already! It's only been a week....and it was a holiday so I'm happy to see them coming in. I noticed that the RSVPs look smeared from the invitations but WHATEVER! I'm over those damn invitations! Greg and I have been working on our ceremony planning and readings and we are starting to look into our bachelor/bachelorette parties. It's all coming together!
More to come!

Invite #1 received!

My Aunt just texted me and let me know she got my invitation! Yay! I had fears that for some reason :

1. The postage wouldn't be correct even though I checked it numerous times
2. The invitations would get wet and I would feel really bad about not using inner envelopes
3. That something else would go wrong with them

Now the BIG WAIT....for the RSVPs......

La conclusione invitos!

Well that was my lame attempt at saying "the end of my invitations" in Italian. I'm sure there are about 5 or 6 grammatical errors, but whatever! They are done and Greg is sending them out tomorrow! Yes that's right, Greg is sending them out. I have delegated the job to him for 2 reasons.

1. Like the time I had to take Gus to the vet for surgery, I had a hard time saying goodbye, so I fear this too may be the case for the invites that I have stressed over.
2. I work all weekend and won't be able to send them out until after the holiday weekend which means that I would be late for my July 4th deadline and I would like to at least make 1 of my major deadlines!

Here is the whole set. The invitation, rsvp card, stamped return rsvp envelope, and website card. All printed on my home printer and all cut on a crappy paper cutter I bought from Michaels.

Just a little shout out to DownloadandPrint where I got the fabulously easy template!

Here is my RSVP card

I took some advice from some fellow brides and numbered the back of my RSVP cards so I would know who sent them back in case they forget to fill out there names. I asked Greg what he would put after the M________ and he had no idea and had never heard of it. So I'm hoping most people know to put there names, but if not I have the numbers.

I included a card with our website information since I included hotel information, maps, restaurants, registries, and photos on it.

Lessons I learned about invitations:
1. They suck.
2. I should have paid someone to do them for me
3. I'm glad they are done.

DIY Invitation Disaster: Update

Okay, so here is the update on the invitation disaster. Greg's letter to customer service is getting us a refund for the printing of the ruined invitations, and replacement invitations, but no refund for the ruined invitations, if that makes any sense. But, whatever. I think I have found an easier way for me to print the invitations at home without fighting too much with templates, etc.

I found this excellent website called DownloadandPrint. It is a website of free templates for invitations, rsvp cards, etc. And this website has really cute designs that she is frequently updating. The templates are designed for 8.5 x 11 in paper so that you don't have to fight with changing printing preferences, etc. She also recommends the type of paper to use for the invitations. Here is the one I've been messing around with.

It was very easy, I just downloaded the template and changed the information and font inside the text boxes. I printed and voila!

The RSVP card template had a few more things on it than I wanted so I just rearranged it to how I wanted it.

My version

I'm still messing around with the spacing of wording, etc. The other drawback is the cutting of the pages, however she gives you guidelines to make that easy. That will probably get tedious though. However, I really like the look of these invitations, I can still use the envelopes from the ruined kits and Greg actually said he liked these better than the other ones.

DIY Invitation Disaster

The invitations are driving me nuts. I personally don't want to spend a lot on them, I'm not into making them very difficult to put together (ie multiple pieces of paper, maps, pocketfold, etc). I have been trying to make this as simple as possible for myself while still not spending a lot.

WELL I SCREWED UP! And now my DIY Michaels invitations are ruined and I have to start over.
In fairness to myself, it's not really my fault.....it's the "printing store guy's fault". Or at least I am going to blame him to make myself feel better since I'll probably never see him again.
***
Here are the problems:
1. He did not use the approved font that took me 2+ months to finalize and printed all of the invitations in Times New Roman......AGH!
2. He accidentally erased a line from the RSVP card.....you know the part that says
__ Number attending
3. He used all of my invitations
4. He didn't give a crap...at all

Greg was pissed and wrote a letter to customer service. I think I have a solution, but the subject is still a sore matter for me since my plan was to have finished invitations this week, and it looks like I'm starting invitations this week. Updates to come once I'm done with work this week.

Great Find!!

I signed up to be a member with Michaels and received a 50% off coupon for one item. My coupon is good for until mid-April and I can just keep re-printing them. I got one invitation kit today regularly priced $39.00. I got it for $20.00!! I can't believe it! I'm going back tomorrow. I'll probably need 3 kits (they each have 30 invites). So that is $60 bucks total for invites!! I can hardly believe it!

I have a different idea for Thank You notes, but I figured I could use these for bridal shower, etc thank yous. They come with Invitations, envelopes, response cards and envelopes, sticker seals, thank you cards and envelopes. I'm very happy with this!! If you are thinking about DIY invites check out Michaels for sure! They have so many more options than they did even this last summer!
